Why I’m not checking stats / collecting subscribers
Who’s out there
This post is basically just to reinforce the reasons I have in my own head about why I’m not constantly checking my hit counter, or fretting over how many subscribers I have, or even trying to entice new subscribers to my blog. Here are my reasons:
- I’ve had two failed attempts at blogging, I gave up because there was no instanct success and I became disillusioned.
- What I don’t know won’t hurt me. By not knowing or even caring. I can concentrate on writing posts that I feel are quality without the pressure of having actual readers who may critique my posts.
- I’m busy concentrating on my Pay Per Click efforts and writing software to help with my Pay Per Click efforts and my blogging.
- It must be much easier to gain readership via a blog which is established and when you’re actually having some successes, rather than a blog which is only a week old.
- I want to make sure that blogging is something that can actually hold my interest. If I can keep up posting for a month, maybe even two without it feeling like a chore, then I can start promoting and actually gaining a readership/subscriber base.
- I’m still not happy with my style of writing, I would like to be funnier, wittier and more sophisticated. Hopefully in time I will be able to work on this and provide more quality/entertainment to my prattling.
So for the next month at least I’m going to continue along in my blisfully unaware state. With only the odd whispering from a passing commentor, to reasurse me my words are being read.

I am new to blogging and probably spend to much time worrying about stats. If I concentrated more on commenting and marketing along with new posts the stats would take care of themselves.
@Dave Jones:
That’s what I’m hoping
I’m still a stat checking junkie…maybe one day I’ll evolve!
Matt
hey clog,
that’s a good approach to take. I’m new to blogging and i am just concentrating on making it work as i want.
You can’t expect too much after a couple of weeks. Good luck to it.
Sean
@Matt, it takes serious will power. The best thing to do is just pretend that there are no stats available. I seriously have no idea how many people have visited so far. I’m pleasantly surprised I’m getting any comments at all!!
@sean Thanks mate. Good luck to you also.
